About Mary

Welcome to my web page. I am honoured that you have chosen to get to know more about me and my yoga philosophy as a Canadian Certified Yoga Teacher with 300 hours and a Yoga Therapist.

Let me begin by telling you that I how I  found yoga. My daughter was working out with a trainer and rather than just sit on the bench,  I began to schedule her work outs with the yoga classes. As a golfer, tennis player, runner, skier and any other sport that is fun, I would rather  do anything than just sit. I was impressed and humbled by the level of fitness that a Vinyasa yoga class required. And yet I felt that yoga was offering more than just the physicality but what? As my practice of yoga continued to grow I began to develop  greater strength, flexibly and balance in my body. It also facilitated the healing process when I experienced a physical injury from  a sport. But I was absolutely overwhelmed at the role yoga played in my emotional healing during a period of turmoil. It brought strength, flexibility and balance into my mind that provided me with comfort and support.

I wanted to deepen my knowledge about yoga and so I began Yoga Teacher Training at Ann Green Yoga in Barrie, 2011. And then my passion for teaching yoga exploded. I continued my learning through various yoga workshops and retreats. I thoroughly enjoyed The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga Retreat at the Chopra Centre for Wellness in Carlsbad California in 2013 and Journey into Healing , 2015.  As a laureate from Queen’s University in Nursing Science the next step was to become a Yoga Therapist studying with Susi Hately, Functional Synergy, international teacher of Yoga Therapy and Author in 2013.

I approach  yoga from a holistic health perspective. My passion is to teach a comprehensive practice whether it is Hatha, Beginners, Vinyasa, Restorative, Mediation or Therapeutic, that guides each student towards reaching their finest mind and body health. I focus on breath, strength, and mindfulness while encouraging each student to become their own radiant teacher. I always encourage students to learn to listen to the voice of the subtle body, because every cell has a voice, wisdom, and memory. In yoga we are learning to join the body and the mind together through this communication. Learn to listen to the whispers from your body. I teach group lessons as well as offering private classes as well in studios, community centres, homes, cottage, or even boathouses!

I available for yoga therapy at the Barrie Chronic Pain Clinic, 500 Huronia Road, Suite 101,  Barrie, L4N 6M2,  Ann Green Yoga Bliss Studio in Barrie, Ontario ,  and during the summer months I teach at the Ojibway Club in Pointe Au Baril, Ontario.  The dates and locations   will be listed under the Schedule.
